Heading North, Restaurants, and Rommate?

Hey everybody!

Well, today is my last day in Austin. It's a little sad because I most likely won't be coming back until summer time. But, I'll be going back to school and all will be well. At this moment, I'm trying to get as much laundry as I can done before 4pm -Trenton is taking me out to dinner for my last night. Back at the dorm, I have to pay to get my laundry cleaned. And I usually do it once a month, so it comes out to be around $20. YIKES!!! I either have to find some place that would do my laundry for a cheap price - good luck finding that in New York - or, and this might sound very weird, I might have to wash them myself. Dee, if you're reading this, I won't do it while I'm at the dorms. :D

I'm thinking about getting a job while I'm up in New York. Preferably at some big restaurant like Red Lobster, or Olive Garden or something. I would be willing to work as a hostess, but I think it'd get me more money if I was a waitress. It'll be hard. I'll have to make myself seem not as awkward as I know I can be. I'll think of it as acting training. :D Plus, I'll have to get my Alcohol Beverage Serving Card as well as a Food Handlers Card. The one's I had were for restaurants in Texas, and most likely have expired by now. But if I do get it, I'll be able to transfer to another restaurant for the summer. At least I hope I will be able to.

It's still a toss up on whether I should do my second year at NYFA in New York, or in LA. I feel that most likely it'll be LA. Which brings me to the last portion of my blog. If I do go to LA, I'll need to get a roommate. They don't have dorms at the LA campus and I personally don't like the dorms that much anymore. There is little to no privacy, and you can't really decorate the room, unless all you want is posters or things you pin up on your wall. Anyway, I'll be on the looking for any girls who are either going to LA, or are already living in LA and need a roommate for a year. If anyone is interested, please give me a little shout out and we'll talk.

Well, that all I can think of to write right now. I also have to check on the progress of my laundry and take a shower.

Til next time, catch you later! <3

A Proposal, an Honor, and Presents!

Hey guys.

It's Christmas day, and to most of us it means one thing; PRESENTS!!! This year seemed to take a little longer than last year. I think my dad was feeling that as well because he was constantly saying "Let's keep'em. Keep'em coming." And then my mother would yell back. "No! Let them take their time!!"

Some of things that I got this year are a magic bullet blender, a cool looking watch, some clothes, a new wallet, and more. I'll hopefully upload some pictures when I get the chance.

There are some firsts for this Christmas. Firstly, this was the first time when my PARENTS are waking me up for Christmas and I'M trying to sleep in... For some reason, this seems odd to me. Hahaha. I guess I was just really tired. I did stay out until 11:30pm playing Wii Sports with my boyfriend, Trenton.

Another one is that this was the first Christmas that my brother, Mike, was not there with us. He joined the Peace Corps and left this past August. Mike is currently in Nicaragua and will be there for two years. So I'll not only have one, but two Christmases without him. But he get's internet and was able to Skype with us this morning. We opened is presents for him and showed them to him through the video camera in the computer. I think mom was talking about wrapping them up again and giving them to Mike when he comes back.

Then another thing, which brings me to my second part of why I'm writing this blog, is that this is my sister and her boyfriend's first Christmas as an ENGAGED couple. Yep, you read right. My baby sister, Alyssa, is getting MARRIED!!!!! :O I heard about it when the night before Christmas Eve. I was shopping around Barnes and Noble for any last minutes stuff that I needed to get, when I get a call from my mother. She tells me that she had something to tell me. When I asked her what, she told me that Josh had proposed to her. And he went through hell to do it, because all the romantic places that he wanted to propose to her were either not open, or didn't seem all that romantic. Finally, as a last resort, the went to the restaurant where he had made reservations. He went in a head of her and told the hostess that he was going to "pop the question". She was very excited and they agreed to help out. When they brought out their food, Alyssa had a beef skewer, the ring was on the end and written on the plate was "Will you marry me?" Of course my sister said yes, and they are planning to have a spring wedding. I love my sister very much and I'm very happy for her. Mike is even coming back to the states to see the wedding. The ring is very pretty. When she showed to me, she turns to Trenton, and tells him "The pressure is on you now."

Yesterday, Alyssa, my Mom, and I were getting gas before going to the Christmas Eve Church service that she wanted to go to and the topic of the wedding came up. When she told me that it was probably going to happen in April or May, I asked if it could be on a weekend, that way I could come down from New York without missing too much school. She told me that I had to come whether I missed school or not. When I asked why, mom told me to cover my ears while she talked. I didn't know what all the secrecy was about. It could have been Christmas present stuff. After I uncovered my ears, Alyssa said "I don't know why we can't tell her." I had no idea what they were talking about and asked them. After mom gave the O.K. Alyssa turns to me and asks me to be her Maid of Honor. So, it looks like I'll might have to miss some school. Anything for my baby sister. :D

Whew. That's quite a bit. But that's all I have for now.

Catch you later! <3

A new look and tickets

Hey everybody!

Well, I got my hair cut and colored about two or three days ago. And I have to say that I absolutely LOVE IT!!

It's a little darker now, almost black. And I bet a lot of you are reading this and saying "Why would she color her hair darker? It's already dark." Oh you would be wrong. My sister showed me what color my hair was and it was actually one of the lighter shades of brown. And the ends were actually BLONDE!!! So, I changed that and now my hair is nice and dark.

The cut is now a triangular bob. It's not as extreme as some of the other triangular bobs where it's really short in the back but all the way to your shoulders in the front. Alyssa, my stylist, and I deemed that too dramatic for me. It kind of looks like a regular bob. But it the back, it kind of comes up in a V, which you can really see if I look down.

I absolutely love this style. I think I'm going to keep this look.

On another note, I got my tickets to see the last show of Peter Pan on the 3oth. I am so happy that I get to see this show. I bet good money that I'll be crying after every song. I'm still trying to get my tickets for the Times Square New Year's event. The tickets that I keep coming across are very pricy... but I think those are for open bar at some of the nearby restaurants. I don't know if I'll be able to afford it. It would be nice if I could go, if I go to LA next year, I won't be able to. But we'll see.

That's all I've got for now. I'll try to keep these blogs as interesting as I possibly can.

Til then, catch you later! <3

Beginning of an Actress's Blog (I'll come up with better titles, I promise)

Hello everybody!!

For those of you who just came across this blog, my name is Katie. For those of you who know me, well you already know who I am. :D

I'm starting this blog because I want to keep an account of what's going on in my life, and that way I can look back and see what has and hasn't changed.

Just a quick summary of who I am for those who don't really know me; I was born into a - now retired - military family, I'm 20 years old, I'm currently live in New York and studying at the New York Film Academy (NYFA), I love singing, dancing, writing (both books and screenplays), and acting. Yeah, that's about it. I know, not very much.

Anyway, I'm currently in the second day of my winter break for school. I get to go back to Austin, TX, with my family and spend Christmas with them. My mom's glad to have me back. It'll be great to just relax for a bit. I might even be able to make some progress in my writing. But I don't think I'll get used to not being able to take the subway to get where I need to be for the next two weeks.

I'll be going back on the 30th, just in time to see the Times Square ball drop. But I'm also going to try to get back to see Peter Pan that night. For those of you who don't know, Peter Pan was my very first musical that I got to perform in. I used to drag my parents into the living room and make them watch me do the indian dance along with the Mary Martin version of the show when we were at home. This show has a special place in my heart, so I have to try to see it. :D

Once we reach the 3rd of next month, we start to go back to school again. I'm looking forward to the next semester and the new classes. But I also face a little bit of a dilemma. I have the choice of either continuing my second year at NYFA in New York, or I could go all the way to the west coast and take it in LA. I'm beginning to lean toward going to LA, but I would miss the Big Apple very very much. It is a little early in the game to make a final decision, but I don't like not knowing what my plan is. I'll figure it out when I cross that bridge.

Well, I think that's all for tonight folks. I'm starting to fall asleep at my keyboard. I'll try to keep these posts as interesting as I possibly can.

Til then, catch you later! <3
